Tobiko clears Ngilu, Koskei, orders Kambi, Kamau to be charged
The Director of Public Prosecution Keriako Tobiko has directed that suspended Cabinet secretaries Kazungu Kambi (Labour) and Michael Kamau (Transport) be charged with abuse of office.
Mr Tobiko has, however, cleared CSs Charity Ngilu (Lands) and Felix Koskei (Agriculture) of any wrongdoing.
He recommended that Ngilu’s corruption allegations file be closed while Mr Koskei has been enlisted as a prosecution witness against the managing director of Kenya Veterinary Vaccine Production Institute (KEVEVAPI) and head of supply chain management.
CONFLICT OF INTEREST
Mr Koskei faced allegations of conflict of interest for allegedly leasing KEVEVAPI land at Tigoni, Kiambu.
On his part, Mr Kambi will be charged with the appointment of Mr Andrew Gichamba Muigai and Ms Veska Jepkemboi Kagongo as members of the NSSF board. Mr Kamau faces allegations of collusion with a construction company to trash a consultant’s design without following proper procedures and redesigning the road leading to massive embezzlement of funds.
Mrs Ngilu was accused of conspiring with Mr Evanson Waitiki and valuers from her ministry to defraud the taxpayers of Sh110 million by overstating the value of the land earmarked for purchase by the government.
