Uhuru faces battle to save presidency as Senator seeks to impeach him

Nyamira Senator Mong’are Bw’okong’o wants President Kenyatta impeached over the doctors’ strike.

Mr Bw’okongo said the president must take responsibility for lives lost as a result of the ongoing strike.

The lawmaker, who recently launched his presidential bid, said he will move the impeachment motion once parliament resumes session in February, after recess.

“He swore to protect the lives of all kenyans,” Mr Bw’okong’o said on Thursday during a press conference at parliament buildings.

He also claimed the president was behind the police presence around parliament when parliament converged for a special session, over the contentious election laws.

The grounds for the impeachment motion are:

1. Attempt by President to contravene CoK (Constitution of Kenya) 2010 by Cordoning Off of Parliament Buildings during Special Sittings of the NA (National Assembly) and attempts of the same in the Senate.

Article 1 of CoK gives the people Sovereignty. The Executive is subservient to the Parliament which represents the People.

2. President dictates Parliamentarians how to vote which is contrary to CoK.

3. As CIC (Commander in Chief) of KDF he has failed or neglected to account for Soldiers lost in El Adde attack.

Also, failed to table in Parliament a report on WestGate attack, Garissa Attack. It is incumbent upon President of the Republic of Kenya to do so.

Senator Mong’are gave the notice of motion two days after declaring his interest to vie for the presidency in the 2017 election.
