Waititu denies grabbing land

Former Embakasi MP Ferdinand Waititu  has denied accusations of attempting to grab a piece of land in Umoja II.

This is in response to claims by a group of Umoja II residents who had accused him of attempting to grab their land.

The group had claimed the former MP had hired youths to invade the land. They also alleged that Mr Waititu had tried to sell the land to six people.

However, Mr Waititu dismissed the claims as cheap politics by those who want to tarnish his name.

He questioned the authenticity of the documents held by the group and said he had nothing to do with the land.

According to a certificate held by Michael Thiong’o, one of the five people listed as the owners, they have held the piece of land measuring about one acre since 2004.

Mr Waititu said he had only rented the place from Kiambu Dandora Farmers Company Ltd and put up a perimeter wall and some offices but decided to vacate when an ownership dispute emerged.

“I’m not claiming to be the owner of the piece of land. The owners have taken their documents to Buruburu Police Station,” he said.

The other four listed joint lease holders for the piece Title No. NAIROBI/ BLOCK 107/1123 are Robert Kung’u, Peter Mariira, James Maina and Charles Kinyua.

The residents burned Mr Waititu’s effigy and asked Governor Evans Kidero to intervene and stop an illegality.
