Why Kamene Goro will undergo surgery

Kenyan media personality Kamene Goro recently revealed she is set to undergo knee surgery.

Speaking during an Instagram live session, the renowned radio presenter said she has been preparing to get an implant in her knee following previous knee complications.

Kamene took the opportunity to clarify that she has thrice torn her meniscus – the c-shaped cartilage pad in the knee that acts as a shock absorber.

She emphasized that her knee issues were not due to her weight.

“I’ve torn my meniscus three times. It’s not a weight thing. So I’m due to fix the third tear and get an implant,” Kamene explained.

However, being a plus-size woman in the limelight Kamene was subject to online criticism after her revelation where she found herself facing a negative comment that suggested her weight was causing strain on her knees.

“Magoti zimeshindwa kubeba hio kilo (it appears your knee cannot lift that weight),” one user commented.

With a touch of nonchalance,, Kamene responded to the fan with warmth and showed no sign of being raffled by the callous comment. She encouraged the netizen to show kindness and understanding, clarifying that her weight was not the reason behind her upcoming surgery.

“Wow, I really wonder about such people. But remember when people show you their worst, learn and move. Be better nani,” Kamene responded.

This isn’t the first time Kamene Goro has faced knee troubles. In July 2019, she experienced an accident at her house, which led her to undergo the initial surgery.

Narrating the incident on Instagram, the ex breakfast Club host said she is set to undergo surgery following a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scan on the affected area.

“So yesterday I had a pretty unfortunate incident at the house I just moved into. I damaged my knee pretty badly so I came to the hospital last night, ambulance and what not.

“I really struggled with getting an MRI. Pumped with painkillers and I had to get the MRI this morning only for me to be admitted and told that I have surgery tomorrow,” she narrated.

Since then, Kamene has undergone multiple surgeries to repair and maintain the affected knee.
