Why Sakaja has relocated county vehicles from private garages
Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja has moved the county government’s vehicles and machines from private garages in the county.
The county boss said during his impromptu visit to Central Garage in Nairobi that his government is cutting the cost expenses being spent to repair county machines in private garages.
He spoke when he inspected the ongoing repair works of county vehicles and machines.
Sakaja said that all the vehicles that were lying in private garages were moved to the central garage.
“We have brought all the vehicles that had worn out and had been in private garages for a very long time. I’m very happy because of the engineers, the mechanics we have over here,” Governor Sakaja said.
The governor was pleased by the ongoing works at the garage where the heavy and light machines were being repaired, including the compactor which will be taken to the Dandora Dumpsite soon.
“A total of 38 machines and vehicles are ready, and another 30 are in the works. This is part of our promise to cut down the cost using the new expertise that we have as Nairobi County, probably one of the biggest garage facility.”
Governor Sakaja said that in the past, the county vehicles were being taken to private facilities yet the county had competent and experienced personnel.
The governor reiterated the plans that his county has put in place to renovate the central garage, and that the contract has already been awarded to the contractor, who will install fueling point at the garage.
“All our heavy machinery is going to be filled from here. We are installing our fleet management here as well as our fuel management system so that we can make sure that our current expenditure on vehicles, garbage vehicles, on our works vehicles is efficient as possible, and there is no wastage.”
