10 counties including Nairobi to experience power blackout

Kenya Power has announced that ten counties, including Nairobi, will, on Thursday, September 14, 2023, experience a power blackout.

In a statement issued by the electricity provider, the areas will be affected due to what was termed as normal maintenance.

In Nairobi County, the blackout will affect parts of Riverside Drive. Other areas include; Riverside Groove, Riverside Mews, Ugandan High Commission, the German Embassy, Parts of Mzima Springs Road, parts of Tende Drive, Siri Auribindo Avenue, Mandari Kindergarten, International Organisation for Migration and adjacent customers.

Joska area will also be affected by the power interruptions. The specific places include; Reflector Estate, Greenview School, Kamulu police Station and adjacent customers.

Thome Estate will also be affected by the power interruptions. The specific places include; Braeburn Schools, Oak Place, Windsor Hotel, Mica Estate, Marurui Primary School, Mukuyu, Marurui Patrol Base, Quickmart Thome, Nyati Drive, Toto Lane and Close and adjacent customers.

Parts of Mpaka Road will also be affected by the power interruptions. The specific areas include; Oshwal School, Parts of General Mathenge Drive, Mpaka Villas and adjacent customers.

In Kiambu County, areas of Kabete, Kingeero and Wangige will be affected by the power interruptions.

More specific areas that will be affected by the blackout include; Njonjo Farm, Chura Secondary School, Wangige Hospital, Wangige Market, Mwimuto, Gathiga Village, Kessel Homes, Epic, Kamutini and adjacent customers.

Karagi Estate and Kahuguini will also experience a power blackout. More specific areas include; Coffee Research (CRF), Nembu Shops, Kagera Primary, Mutate Shops, Kirugiro, Kahuguini, Karembu, Wamitaa and adjacent customers.

Corner Brook areas also within Kiambu County, will be affected by the power interruptions. The specific areas include; Selecta, Space and Style, Abba Salama, Juja Farm Polytechnic, Juja Farm, Juja South and adjacent customers.

In Uasin Gishu County, Jabali, Chebarus, Karara Farm and adjacent customers will be affected by the power interruptions.

In Trans Nzoia County, the areas that will be affected by the power blackout include Motosiet, Kachibora, Kipkeikei, Yuya, Kaplamai, Hututu, Mito Mbili, Geta, and adjacent customers will be affected by the power interruptions.

In Nyeri County, the power interruptions will affect the areas of Witima, Kagumo, Kamuini, Gaikundo, Mutitu, Ichamama, and adjacent customers.

In Meru County, the areas that will be affected include Laare, Mutuati, Kabachi, KK Market, Kamukunji, and adjacent customers.

In Murang’a County, the areas that will be affected include Muchungucha, Kiria, Ndutumi, Yamugwe, Kamaguta, Maragi, and adjacent customers who will experience the blackout.

In Kirinya County, the affected areas include; Difathas, Kanjinji, Thumaita, Kamugunda, Karumande, Parts of Kianyaga Town, Guama Coffee Factory will be affected by the power interruptions.

In Mombasa County the affected areas will be Chaani, Migadini, Magongo, Bomu Sub-County Hospital, Changamwe, Coast General Hospital and adjacent customers.

In Kilifi County, the areas that will experience the blackout include Makomboani, Mwanamwinga, Gotani Market, Kinangoni Secondary School, Kabateni Market, Kinarani Market, Hademu Center and adjacent customers.

Business people usually get affected whenever there is a power blackout as most depend on electricity to run their activities.
