Comedian Senje appeals for financial support amid medical challenges


Popular online comedian Sylvia Savai known for her skits on Senjee comedy is appealing to well-wishers to help her raise Sh12 million to undergo two major surgeries in the US to salvage her failing organs.

The 35-year-old says she is battling endometriosis, a condition that causes her to paralyse on the right side of her body every month during her menstruation.

This has led to some of her organs failing and now needs urgent surgery to salvage the situation.

“I have been batting the condition for 20 years now. The struggle began while I was in primary school. In 2013 I had my first surgery and a cyst was removed having been diagnosed with PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome). Years later my condition worsened every month. We tried different hospitals including herbals it never worked. Last September I fell very ill and was rushed to Aga Khan Hospital where I was diagnosed after several tests. My left ovary is messed up, my right ovary is stuck behind my uterus, and my appendix has to be removed. My bowel is messed up and to fix this, I need to travel to the US for specialized treatment to,o and now I am trying to raise funds for two surgeries that I will have to undertake,” Senjee tells Hot Topics.

The specialized treatment is set for June 2024 and will cost about Sh12 million in estimates.
