Mockumentary targeted at NGO community released

The first Kenyan mockumentary series focusing on the activities of local NGOs was launched last week in Nairobi.

The production that stars Nairobi’s Sarah Hassan, Alison Kariuki and Farida Muhindi is aimed at changing the NGO world to be development oriented.

Dubbed ‘The Samaritans‘ the show rotates around an NGO ‘Aids for Aids’ that never carries out any development projects.

Produced by Hussein Kurji of Xeinium Productions, a Nairobi based production house, the comedy has a multiracial cast that brings out the idea of NGOs that do nothing.

The lead actor, Scott plays a new director who has been transferred to Kenya from the Aid for Aid head office in the UK.

He faces resistance from the interim country director who feels she knows better than the head office.

The mix of characters includes a male staff who calls every female employee sweety as the office is artistically transformed into a pitch of sexual indiscretion.

The show will transform the country’s entertainment with new production ideas expected to flood the sector.
