Ovella falls out with Kariobangi Sharks management in contract row

Kariobangi Sharks forward Ovella Ochieng has fallen out with the club’s management and as a result banished to train with the reserves, Nairobi News understands.

The Kenya international has been missing in action since the start of the league campaign.

Despite being one of the key players at the club, he did not feature in any of the three league matches against Nzoia Sugar, Vihiga United and Chemelil Sugar.

Neither has he even made the bench in these games.

“The stand off has something to do with his contractual situation. He is not keen on renewing his current deal which expires at the end of the season.”

A creative winger with pace to burn, Ovella’s last competitive game was during Kenya’s triumphant performance against Zanzibar in the final of the Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup at Machakos in November.

He scored the opening goal of that game via a well taken free kick.

Sharks meanwhile are currently ranked sixth on the league standings having amassed five points from their opening three games.
