Shock as villager kills friend over Sh100 debt

Shock and grief engulfed a village in Nakuru County after a man killed his friend over a Sh100 debt.

The assailant, Kipkemoi Towett, 22, used a bow and arrow to kill Mr Jackson Chemosi, 40, at Ndashatait village in Elburgon.

Confirming the incident, Kapcholola assistant chief Kenneth Rotich said the two had a confrontation over payment of the Sh100 before the assailant went berserk and shot his friend in the head using an arrow.

“Mr Towett visited the deceased at his farm in Ndashatait village in Mariashoni Ward in Elburgon, demanding for the payment of the debt leading to a confrontation that became fatal, “said Mr Rotich.

EXCHANGE OF WORDS

A witness revealed to the Nation that after the exchange of words, Mr Towett went back to his home and came with a bow and arrow, which he used to kill Mr Chemosi.

“The deceased died instantly following the assault,”said the neighbour Ms Caroline Chebet.

When police from Elburgon police station arrived at the scene of crime, the deceased body was found with an arrow still lodged in his head.

The suspect fled into Mariashoni forest and and is still at large.

Molo Officer Commanding Police Division (OCPD) Mr Daniel Kamanza said police have launched investigations into the incident as they hunt down the suspect.

The body of the deceased was taken to Elburgon sub-county mortuary awaiting for an autopsy.
