18-year old robber gunned down in Kibera

Administration Police officers shot a 18-year-old man who tried to rob a member of the public in Nairobi’s Kibera area.

The deceased, Boniface Makau, was in the company of two others who managed to escape with bullet wounds.

Makau was found dead at Mbagathi District Hospital where he had been taken for treatment.

Briefing the press at Vigilante House, the Police Spokesperson Zipporah Mboroki said that police officers on patrol spotted the three trying to rob a person and when ordered to stop they defied.

She said in the process, one of the three robbers drew a pistol and fired two rounds at the officers forcing the officers to fire back.

Two of the thugs were wounded, while one of them managed to escape unscathed.

Ms Mboroki said the officers recovered one ceska pistol S/NO P2695 and one round of ammunition from the robbers.

The police spokesperson urged members of public to be cautious and report any suspicious cases around their environments so as to improve security in their areas.

The deceased’s body is lying at the city mortuary.
