Uhuru meets his childhood driver


An old man’s wish to meet President Uhuru Kenyatta made in 2013 through the media finally came to pass on Wednesday when he got to meet the head of state.

Mzee Mulei Nganda, who was the Kenyatta family’s driver was pictured sharing a light moment with President Uhuru when he visited Machakos County.

The 101-year-old mzee was featured by KTN shortly after Uhuru became president as he told stories of how he used to serve the first family.

He narrated how President Uhuru who was in kindergarten then became his young friend as he would take him to school every morning then pick him up later in the evening.

MZEE MULEI’S WISH

Mzee Mulei said during that interview that his only wish was to meet the President, a wish that was fulfilled Wednesday when he got to meet the head of state and even shared some photos with him.

Photos of him with the President and his deputy alongside other dignitaries were shared on social media where he can be seen shaking hands with the President.

Deputy President William Ruto can also be seen perusing old black and white photos while Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua looks on.

Mzee Mulei told KTN that he worked for the first family for five years and was later added more years to serve them.
