Wahu challenges Nameless over song ‘theme’
Legendary musician Nameless, real name David Mathenge, has opened up on why he has never released a song dedicated to his wife of over 17 years, Wahu Kagwe.
Speaking on Bien Aime’s recently launched solo album ‘Alusa Why are You Topless’ Wahu picks the song Chikwere Bien dedicated to his dancer wife Chiki Kuruka, as her favorite.
However, the mother of three is quick to point out that she is concerned her husband of close to two decades has never thought of doing the same to her.
“My favourite on Bien’s album is the song he wrote for his wife. I was asking myself, why is it that my husband has not written a song dedicated to me, what’s up with that?” Wahu opens up.
In his defense, Nameless dismissed his wife’s claims maintaining that he has written many songs dedicated to her, it’s just that he has never mentioned her directly in the song as Bien did with Chiki.
“Do you know how many songs I have written for my beautiful wife? it’s just that I haven’t said Wahu.
Listen, the songs I have done inspired by this girl (Wahu) are very many and I thank her for inspiring me. But she knows I can’t put her name there (on the records), for various artistic reasons. If anything why hasn’t she recorded one dedicated to me as well,”
According to Nameless if there is any song that his wife ever dedicated to him, then they were all distracts naming Kibow wow and Sitishiki.
The two hit songs by Wahu were released over 10 years ago when the couple were still dating.
Dedications and songs aside, Nameless and Wahu remain the role models of celebrity dating in Kenya.
The celebrity couple has managed to remain steadfast in their relationship for close to two decades and counting while maintaining relevance while at it, devoid of negative publicity and scandals.
