Popular TV actor bereaved weeks after surviving grisly accident
Actor John Githui, popularly known as Ras for his role in Citizen TV’s Mother-in-Law series, has been bereaved.
Githui posted a message on his Facebook page announcing the passing of his mother Ms Nancy Wangechi Githui at Tumutumu Hospital, Nyeri.
In a short and emotional message he posted: “You were one person I loved greatly Mom….now you are gone. I feel so empty; all I have are tears of pain. Rest in peace Mom. I’ll always luv you” .
LONG ILLNESS
Githui told Nairobi News that his mother passed away on Sunday after long illness.
“Mum has been having stomach ulcers and at some point she was treated for meningitis,” he said.
He has also announced that his mother will be buried in Gatitu village, Nyeri County on Wednesday next week.
“We are having meetings in Nyeri and we shall also have the same in Nairobi at a venue to be announced soon. We shall have a fundraiser on Sunday to clear hospital bills,” he added.
Ms Githui, 58, leaves behind two sons, John and Robert Mwangi and five grandchildren.
His fans flooded his page with messages of condolences.
The actor had four weeks ago survived a grisly accident on Landhies road, near Muthurwa market in Nairobi.
The accident happened on the evening of Friday, December 25. The actor’s car was said to have collided head-on with a matatu.
