Kalonzo defends sacked Knec officials

Wiper Democratic Movement Leader Kalonzo Musyoka has called for a fair hearing for the suspended Kenya National Examination Council (Knec) officials led by its CEO Dr Joseph Kivilu.

Kalonzo while addressing graduates of South Eastern Kenya University (SEKU) in Kwa Vonza, Kitui County Thursday, said the team has been victimized unheard and that the actions by both the Education Cabinet Secretary and his counterpart in the security docket were unconstitutional.

Kalonzo said the new constitution stipulates channels of investigations, trial and conviction, which allow the accused to be given a fair hearing but not judged unilaterally.

EXAM LEAKAGE

He said the genesis of the exam leakage might have been the disgruntled teachers who were mistreated by the Jubilee regime when they demanded for their rights over pay increase.

“The leakage in the national examination is ethnic cleansing to target some members from certain communities. This is purely ethnic profiling by the current regime,” the former Vice President said.

Kalonzo questioned the motive behind the hurried suspension of the board members some of who come the Kamba community.

“The genesis of this massive leakage should be traced back to the mistreatment of teachers by the government which failed to meet their expectations thus some may have been tempted to go the wrong way”
