City court shuts down ‘Space Lounge’ over its loud music

A Nairobi magistrate has ordered for the temporary closure of Space Lounge, a popular nightclub on Ngong road, pending the determination of a case on noise pollution.

The club is embroiled in a legal battle with its neighbours over its loud music at night.

In the temporary order issued on Wednesday, the court revoked the permit issued to Space Lounge Limited pending the hearing and determination of the suit.

It  also prohibited “further operation of live music, streamed music or any other music within Space Lounge Bar.”

The order was issued by Resident Magistrate Mary Murage.

The magistrate also ordered Kilimani Police Station OCS to ensure the nightclub complies with the court order.
