RIP! Actor Charles Ouda’s last moments: Fellow cast members speak


Renowned actor Charles Ouda passed away on February 3 at 38, leaving a legacy of talent and love in the Kenyan entertainment industry.

His last moments were captured by fellow actors during a wrap party for the popular TV show “Salem,” shedding light on the vibrant spirit that defined his life.

Jackie Matubia, who attended the 90’s themed wrap party, shared moving moments from the event, showcasing Ouda’s lively presence.

Matubia posted videos of Ouda dancing to an upbeat song and interacting with fellow cast and crew members.

In a heartfelt message, she expressed her disbelief and sorrow, stating, “My heart is broken. Someone, please wake me up. Just yesterday you were so full of life, Charlie.”

Matubia reflected on pain of recapping the joyful moments of the previous day in the wake of Ouda’s sudden departure.

“I didn’t think today I would be recapping yesterday like this. It’s so painful; I just want to sleep and wake up and find you have sent me 20 reels and call me J!” Matubia added, highlighting the profound impact of Ouda’s presence.

Another actor present at the wrap party shared a touching revelation about the evening, stating, “We were with Charlie last night, and he was very happy and full of life. He even gave us a big speech which, in hindsight, was ‘goodbye.’ He majorly talked about LOVE. May this message resound in all our hearts and lives. He had so much love in his heart. May his spirit of love guide us in everything we do, see, speak or think! Rest in Love, Charlie.”

Ouda, known for his role as Principal Karani on Salem, left an indelible mark on the show, contributing not only to his acting prowess but also to imparting valuable training to his colleagues.

The statement read: “It is with great sadness that we have learned of the sudden passing of our friend and colleague Charles Ouda, who played Principal Karani on Salem TV series. He brought talent and professionalism to our sets and has trained many of us. We are still in shock. To his family and fiancée, our thoughts and prayers are with you every moment of the day and night. To our audience, his fans, the Salem cast and crew, and the film industry, let’s bow our heads in a moment of prayer, for a hero, a role model, and a friend has left us. May he rest in peace.”

His older sister, Elizabeth Ouda, officially announced the news of Ouda’s passing.

In her statement, she expressed deep sorrow and requested privacy for the family, especially for Ouda’s fiancée, Ciru Muriuki, during this difficult time. Further details about his passing will be provided in due course.
