Blogger Nyakundi seeks asylum after ‘threats to his life’

Blogger Cyprian Nyakundi is seeking asylum following what he claims to be attempts on his life.

The panic-stricken blogger posted a series of tweets on Sunday that claimed unknown people had been trailing him for the last three weeks and even attempted to kidnap him at his Lang’ata house.

He claimed the group had traced him to Lang’tausing his mobile phone line and phone serial number, but only managed to “arrest his cousin after failing to get” him.

The blogger was recently on the limelight after an audio recording emerged online capturing he reportedly attempted to extort millions of shillings from Bidco Oil Refineries as a condition to retrieve a series of tweets and blog articles that had allegedly exposed corruption and land grabbing in the company.

The deal was brokered by blogger and radio presenter Christian Dela, popularly known as Xtian Dela, on behalf of blogger Nyakundi.

The recording caused an uproar over the integrity of Twitter bigwigs who use their large following to peddle influence on politicians and corporate organisations.

Nyakundi’s posts on Sunday were prompted by concerns of other Twitter users who noted his silence, something unusual for a blogger who has forged a reputation on social media.

Here are some of his tweets.
