Bobi Wine yet again lands in trouble with Ugandan authorities
Ugandan Member of Parliament Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine seems to have got into trouble with the authorities, again.
On Saturday night, the pop musician-turned-politician via his Twitter handle claimed that the police in Jinja District, some 70km from Kampala, had raided a hotel where he and his crew were staying ahead of a music concert.
The Singa hitmaker also claimed that the police harassed and forcefully evicted part of his crew from the facility.
BEATEN UP
Bobi Wine, who was slated to have a music show in Jinja on Saturday evening, said the police ordered his team out of town and escorted them up to Lugazi.
“They have beaten some of them, dragged then onto police pick-up cars and driven them to unknown destinations for no offence whatsoever,” he said.
“Meanwhile, I am in Jinja town. The police are looking for me everywhere. They have even blocked some roads in search of me. I will try not to avail myself to them,” he added.
TREASON CHARGES
The show, dubbed ‘Street Jam Mash Up 5 years of Queens Palace’ was first advertised in August 2018.
It remains unclear why police blocked him from performing.
Bobi Wine has severally found himself on the wrong side of the law this year.
He is currently battling treason charges in court after he was arrested and accused of stoning President Yoweri Museveni’s entourage during a by-election campaign in Northern Uganda in August 2018.
