Both the industry and fans have rejected me! – Lenana Kariba opens up
Known for his exceptional talent and captivating romantic allure, actor Lenana Kariba has left an indelible mark on numerous productions.
Now, he’s poised for a triumphant comeback, taking centre stage in the third season of “Single Kiasi.”
Lenana takes on the role of Nick, a charismatic local celebrity whose arrival in Rebecca’s (played by Faith Kibathi) life sets off a chain of events that ultimately leads to turmoil.
In an exclusive interview with Nairobi News, Lenana candidly reflected on the challenges he has faced in the industry, acknowledging rejection as a significant hurdle along his journey.
Lenana recounted being approached for the role of Reagan, which drew significant criticism from both the industry and fans.
“Both the industry and fans have rejected me. Sometimes I have faced rejection even when stepping in to replace someone in a show. Like when I replaced the late Kone Nouhoum in the TV series Selina to play Reagan. It was an unfortunate situation, but the show had to continue.
Some people were unkind to me regarding that situation, and it can take a toll on you as an actor.
Fortunately, I’ve had a strong support system that encouraged me and advised me not to dwell on the negativity.”
On whether he has accumulated sufficient wealth through his acting career, Kariba addressed the financial aspect, highlighting the common misconception that established actors are paid handsomely.
