‘Brian Chira always asked me to love him how he was,’ – grandmother

Today is a solemn day as family, friends and fans bid farewell to the vibrant content creator Brian Chira.

Chira will be laid to rest on March 26 at his grandmother’s ancestral home in Githunguri, Kiambu County.

Chira’s life was tragically cut short at the age of 23 in a hit-and-run accident on March 16, leaving behind a legacy of creativity and compassion.

In a heartfelt tribute, Chira’s grandmother, Esther Njeri, along with his cousins and aunt, painted a poignant picture of the young man who touched the lives of so many.

Esther Njeri, affectionately known as Chira’s grandmother, recalled the bond they shared since childhood.

Chiraalways asked me to love him as he was and I loved him with all his faults,” she said.

After his mother died when he was just eight years old, Chira found solace in his grandmother’s care.

Njeri fondly described him as her best friend and spoke of his selflessness and dedication to the welfare of her family.

Despite his own challenges, she said, Chira made countless sacrifices, including dropping out of university to support his cousins.

Njeri concluded her tribute with a heartfelt prayer for her grandson’s eternal peace.

“Brian always worked hard to take care of his cousins. My grandson, I loved you from the moment you came into my life until your last breath. I’ll miss you so much,” said Njeri.

Chira’s cousins remember him as a brother and a friend.

“We shared a lot of sweet memories and had a lot of fun when he was around. He was everything you want in a big brother. He believed strongly in family and its importance. He always reached out and wanted to know how each of us was doing. A great pillar in our family has fallen, and we will miss you very much. We trust God to heal our hearts in time.”

Chira’s supporters and friends on TikTok have collectively donated more than Sh8 million to help with his funeral arrangements.
