Buruklyn Boyz unveils EP and hint at upcoming album

Kenya’s dynamic duo, Buruklyn Boyz, has electrified their fan base with the launch of their latest EP, ‘BBOYZ SETTINGZ’, as a thrilling prelude to their forthcoming album, ‘Favorite Flavour’.

This musical revelation, unveiled on December 31, 2023, showcases the pair’s vibrant hip-hop culture infused with Kenyan urban flair, fashion statements, and an unwavering love for bike riding, all expertly intertwined with their exceptional lyrical finesse.

Following their highly praised debut album ‘East Mpaka London’ in 2022, ‘BBOY SETTINGZ’ marks their eagerly awaited return, released under the banner of Five8records, a collective embodying music, fashion, and the essence of the BBOY lifestyle.

Ajay, one-half of the duo, revealed, “We’ve been crafting this EP for a year. It samples songs from our upcoming album ‘Favorite Flavour’. These tracks didn’t make the album, so we decided to gift them to our fans as they await its release.”

The EP, comprising seven meticulously crafted tracks, serves as a testament to their artistic evolution and the distinct 58 Flavor soundscape they proudly champion. Each track unfolds as a captivating chapter, boasting innovative production, expert lyrical prowess, and a seamless fusion of genres. Collaborations with rising stars like younglouie58 and Buruklyn G from Five8 records elevate the essence of the 58 Flavor.

The EP’s artwork, a collaboration between Buruklyn Boyz and Quincysza, encapsulates their roots and aspirations. Featuring Nairobi and London’s skylines, it symbolizes the duo’s journey from their origins to their envisioned future.

Ajay explained the EP’s title, saying, “BBOYZ SETTINGZ signifies us setting trends. We lead by example in talent and shine through our music. The feedback so far has been amazing, and we hope for an even better response to the upcoming album.”

Despite their rising success, the duo faced challenges in the industry. They recounted an incident with Nai Fest promoters, where they were promised payment for a performance that never materialized. Later, they released their hit Nairobi anthem in response.

Responding to allegations of style theft, Mr Right asserted, “We don’t know them. We began making music in April 2019 and garnered attention from our first song Durag na Slice. Our dedication to music is fueled by passion.”

The duo, hailing from Buruburu Estate, started as a group fueled by their friends’ belief in their talent, shaping Buruklyn Boyz into the force they are today.

The Buruklyn Boyz, Ajay and Mr Right, stand as pioneers rejuvenating Nairobi’s music scene, setting trends, and continuing to evolve their unique 58 Flavor that resonates deeply with their audience.
