Top of the list was Nandi County and the specific areas that will be affected include; Kapsumbeiyo Factory, St Monica, Cheokunyuk, Kabutie and adjacent customers.

In Kiambu County, the areas that will be affected include; Kyuna Road, Kihara Hospital, Karura Kagongo, Mary Leakey, Kahigaini, La Paz and Mararo.

Other areas within the same county include; Kingeero, Chinese Camp, Kibichiku, Wangige, Epic Center, Wangunyu Girls, Kessels Homes, Vetlab Golf, Uthiru, Rumenye, Ndenderu, Kianjogu, Rueno and adjacent customers.

Yesterday, the counties of Nairobi and Kisii were affected by the power interruptions.

Nairobi County was at the top of the list, and the specific area that will be affected is Mathare Slums.

In Mathare, Area Four will not have electricity from 9 am to 5 pm. This means that businesses that fully rely on electricity to operate will be affected, and owners will today count losses.

In Kisii County, the power interruptions will also affect the Nyamache and Emenwa Areas.

Since the year kicked off, Kenya Power has been making announcements on a daily basis listing down areas that will lack electricity.

This comes at a time when the electricity-providing company increased token charges as it said that it would purchase fewer tokens in January.

A number of people have already raised concerns saying that the tokens had become expensive and Kenya Power Company did not inform them.

Last week, Kenyans who purchased tokens worth Sh250 received 8.87 units, whereas on Wednesday, the same amount only accounted for 7.82 units.

In a breakdown, the change in token value was occasioned by the sharp increase in the forex adjustment charge, which rose from Sh28.11 to Sh50.53.
