Citizen TV presenter Karwirwa Laura quits, announces next move

Citizen TV presenter Karwirwa Laura has announced her exit from the media house after a three year stint.

The Bambika show host shared a message of gratitude to her family and friends for their support throughout her stint at the station, and more so for organizing a surprise exit party for her.

Laura, during the celebration, disclosed she is headed to pursue a Master’s in Public health at Oxford Brookes University in the United Kingdom.

The station’s  management invited the presenter’s family to grace her last show on Bambika and she could be seen fighting back her tears as she was greatly overwhelmed by emotions.

In a video clip seen by Nairobi News, Karwirwa could be seen smiling from ear to ear as her parents, and only brother showered her with glowing tributes.

Laura disclosed her parents lied to her that they will be watching her last show from home, only to show up at Citizen TV studios when she is signing off.

“Having my family, friends and colleagues in one place was all I needed to finally start letting go of the heaviness I feel, making this big move. It’s exciting and nerve-wracking but love….love is calming my heart every single day, that everything will be alright. Thank you for the lovely messages. Heart full!” the presenter said in an emotional post on Instagram.

Adding, “3 years! This one’s tough to caption but really…working on Gospel Sunday, Citizen TV has been one of the greatest privileges of my life. I have been exposed to a wonderful worldview, interacted with beautiful souls and great minds and been challenged in the deepest parts of my being to be a better person every day.

I will dearly miss my colleagues – the banter, chemistry, good vibes…everything. I will miss struggling with that Sunday morning alarm😂 I didn’t realize how much I’d grown to love the screen…. I will miss a lot….especially because, I wasn’t ready…..”

Karwira informed her fans that she is leaving to do her masters at the Oxford Brookes University.

“I want to do more for myself; to grow. Hence, I pray, that this Masters in Public Health will be a launching pad to more,” she said.

During the farewell celebration, Laura’s mother shared her heartwarming message with Laura.

“When she came here she didn’t know what she was going to do, we didn’t understand that she had that talent that you brought out. We knew she could sing but never knew she was a good host as well.”

“Laura, as you go to London, represent as well we pray for you and we know you will do your best as you always do. The world is small, we can continue communicating and you can continue entertaining people and you have the channels to do so and we wish you all the best.”

Rauka gospel show host Joyce Omondi Waihiga led the cake-cutting session, and later bid Laura goodbye in a lovely message.
