Commuters stranded as police crackdown on matatus


Commuters using Thika superhighway were stranded on Monday morning as police carried out a dawn traffic operation to check on compliance with the new traffic rules .

Commuters in Kasarani and Allsops were the most affected and waited for long hours for the few matatus in operation.

Matatu operators took advantage of the crackdown and increased fares to town centre from sh80 to sh100.

Some commuters took to twitter to find out what was hampering morning transport.
