Ex KTN journalist bags top hospital job

Former KTN medical journalist Dr. Mercy Korir has bagged the Business Development manager job with AAR hospital.

In a statement, Ken Muma, the Chief Executive Officer of AAR hospital, said,” Dr. Korir brings with her a wealth of nine years’ experience; four of those as a practising medical doctor; five in media and health communications and two years in resource mobilisation.”

Before joining the AAR, Dr. Korir was the Health and Science Editor at the Standard Group PLC, driving the organization’s health and science agenda- editorially and forging partnerships and special projects that generated revenue.

Despite being registered by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council and the Media Council of Kenya, Dr. Korir is currently the Vice-Chair of KMA RNWDT Sacco, chairing its Education, Communication, and Marketing Committee in charge of Sacco’s business development.

Dr. Korir will oversee the hospital’s external communication and brand positioning and establish new business lines and revenue streams in her role.

“Specifically she will be responsible for developing strategic Business Development, Public Relations and Corporate Social Responsibility plans for the hospital to attract potential clients and retain existing ones,” read part of the AAR statement.

With her efforts and services being recognised in health and health communication, Dr. Korir was the Employee of the Year (2020) at the Standard Group and got awarded The Presidential Order of Service (Uzalendo Award) in 2020 for her work as a medical journalist at the height of the Covid-19 pandemic. Mawazo Institute recognised her as one of the women scientists Breaking Barriers.

Announcing the new job on her socials, Dr. Korir said, “On to a new assignment @AarHospital.”
