Family desperate to find son from Garissa University
A family in Kisii County is agonising over their son who has gone missing since the Garissa University College terrorist attack that claimed 148 lives.
The second year Bachelors of Education student has not been found despite the government’s announcement that all the students who survived or died had been accounted for.
Parents of Christopher Onderi Nyakundi from Nyamware village, Keumbu location still have unanswered questions concerning the matter.
The student’s traumatised father, Videlis Nyakundi, said his son had sent a text message to his mother saying terrorists had invaded the university and asked for prayers.
Nyakundi said his son,the second in the family of four had also warned that they should not ring him. But the son’s phone has since been off to date.
ROLE MODEL
He urged the government to trace his son and avail him either alive or dead to alleviate the family’s current torment.
The student’s brother, Shadrack Nyakundi described him as a polite person who had no issue with anybody and who was a role model in the family.
A neighbor, Patrick Morang’a said the village was in shock over the happenings at Garissa and the missing student.
Morang’a said Onderi was a member of a local church and that the family had high hopes that he would assist them upon completion of his studies.
A total of 147 people, the majority being students, were killed by the Al Shaabab terrorists during the siege at Garissa University.
James Momanyi, area assistant chief petitioned the government to intensify efforts to trace the missing student.
