For the boychild! Pastor Dorcas Rigathi launches anti-drug abuse tournament

In a passionate call for reform and equal opportunities, Pastor Dorcas Rigathi declared her unwavering commitment to the rehabilitation and empowerment of the boy child.

Addressing hundreds of locals in Mutuini on January 11, she highlighted the societal neglect faced by boys, leading to issues such as drug abuse.

Pastor Dorcas emphasised that a safe and balanced society requires equal educational and job opportunities for both genders.

“The boy child has been left voiceless, and the results of this neglect are too far-reaching for the blind to see, even for the deaf to hear,” she asserted, highlighting the need to correct the mistake that has led to the struggles faced by many young men.

She pledged to champion the cause of the boy child until they have a dignified future, stressing the importance of equal opportunities for both boys and girls.

“Until we see the dignified future, just like the girl child, the affirmative actions for the boy is as good as the affirmative action for the girl child because both are born by man and a woman…we must give them equal opportunities,” she stated.

Pastor Dorcas introduced an upcoming tournament expected to be held across all 47 counties, providing a platform not only to explore talents but also to embrace reformed addicts.

The event aims to encourage recovered individuals to participate and contribute to changing the narrative around addiction.

“I envision a championship that will be a must-watch for Kenyans. Not because of the score table, but because of the transformative nature of the game,” she expressed.

The launch of the tournament featured a match between the Kaa Sober team, comprised of men rehabilitated through the boy child program under the office of the spouse of the Deputy President, and Chini ya Mnazi, with Kaa Sober emerging victorious with a 3-0 score.

The event was attended by local leaders, including MP John Kiarie and Mutuini MCA Martin Mwangi, who echoed the importance of collective responsibility in the fight against drug addiction.

Pastor Dorcas emphasised that addressing addiction is not just a government obligation but a collective responsibility extending to households, schools, and communities across Kenya.
