‘If it is fake, stop it!’ Njeri, wife of Boniface Mwangi on social media relationships – Exclusive

Hellen Njeri, the wife of renowned politician and activist Boniface Mwangi, has shared valuable advice for celebrity couples who tend to divulge intimate details about their relationships on social media.

In an exclusive interview with Nairobi News, Njeri, a mother of three, expressed her preference for maintaining a level of privacy in her personal life, cautioning against oversharing.

Having celebrated 17 years of marriage with Boniface Mwangi, Njeri emphasised the importance of discretion in handling relationship challenges.

“When I am wrong in a relationship, help me go through it. You two have not been forced to each other, and you chose each other for a reason. If you must go your separate ways, do it respectfully, especially when children are involved, to avoid antagonising them,” she advised.

Njeri advocated for the idea that it’s acceptable for couples to part ways but continue to co-parent with respect for each other as individuals once trusted with a shared journey.

She stressed the significance of maintaining open communication, particularly during challenging times such as financial difficulties when true characters are revealed.

Expressing her inclination towards privacy in the age of social media, Njeri stated:

“I am very social media shy because I feel as though it is a lot of work, but if your love is real, whether you post it online or not, people need to see that there are real relationships where people can enjoy each other’s company as a couple.”

Njeri further advised couples to also acknowledge when things are not going well and urged authenticity.

“If it is fake, stop it and work on your relationships privately. It doesn’t matter how good you look to people on the gram if you are miserable. Just be real because sometimes there are people you inspire out here. If you are struggling, I think you also need to tell the public about it but in a good manner. Keep some things to yourself,” she concluded.
