Mugiithi artiste Samuel Muchoki, popularly known as Samidoh, is facing a wave of online criticism after receiving the prestigious Head of State Commendation (HSC) from President William Ruto on Tuesday, December 12.

Samidoh – real name Ndirangu Samwel Muchoki – was awarded under the HSC civilian division.

The recognition places him among a distinguished group of celebrities acknowledged for their outstanding achievements in their respective fields.

Taking to social media to share his joy, Samidoh expressed deep gratitude for an honor he never envisioned.

The father of five reflected on the extraordinary journey life had unfolded before him, attributing each milestone to the power of dreams, hard work, and the unwavering support of loved ones and fans.

“Today, I take a moment to express my gratitude to the Almighty God for the incredible journey I’ve been blessed with so far,” Samidoh wrote.

“As just an ambitious village boy, I never imagined that life would take me on such an extraordinary path. Every step of the way has been a testament to the power of dreams, hard work and the unwavering support of my loved ones and you, my fans. I firmly believe that success is a collective effort and I am forever grateful for the favor, love and support from God and from the people that surround me,” he added.

Samidoh also extended heartfelt appreciation to President William Ruto for the HSC award and recognition, acknowledging that this accolade surpassed his wildest imagination.

“I extend my heartfelt appreciation to H. E president @williamsamoeiruto, for the HSC award and recognition. This is beyond my wildest imagination. Indeed, all dreams are valid. Thank you all for your unwavering love and support. Let’s continue doing good as we inspire others along the way,” he added.

However, the joyous occasion was marred by online trolls, with some fans criticising Samidoh for not acknowledging his baby mama, Karen Nyamu, as the person who assisted him in getting the award. This allegation cannot be verified.

In response to a fan’s comment suggesting Karen’s significant role, Samidoh humorously retorted, “hehe si angetafuta yake kwanza?” (Shouldn’t she look for hers first?).

Another follower questioned the value Samidoh had contributed to the country, insinuating that the award was a mere public relations stunt.

Samidoh responded challenging the critic to write their own story, stating, “me or you? Write your story too wivu itakuua mama” (Jealousy will kill you, woman).

On Jamuhuri day, Catherine Kamau, Muigai Wa Njoroge, Jacky Vike, aka Awinja, Comedian Njugush, Butita and Abel Mutua were also awarded.
