Jubilee MCAs tell Kenneth to vie for Nairobi governor

A section of Jubilee MCAs in Nairobi County have called upon Peter Kenneth to run for the city governorship and dissolve the Kenya National Congress Party and join Jubilee Party.

Mr Peter Kenneth is the latest aspirant to declare his interest in Nairobi governor’s seat.

In a Church service in Eastleigh on Sunday, Kenneth said he will not run for presidency in 2017 but will instead support President Uhuru Kenyatta’s re-election.

He also added that he was still consulting whether to vie for governorship in Murang’a County, Nakuru or Nairobi.

He did not, however, state whether he will use his KNC party in 2017 elections or he will join Jubilee.

DISSOLVE PARTY

Speaking to press at City Hall, Ngara MCA Chege Mwangi said that Mr Kenneth should dissolve his party since he has decided to back President Uhuru Kenyatta.

“Now that he has declared he will support the President next year, he should wrap up his party and join like the rest of the other dissolved parties,” he said

Mr Chege said that he should involve the MCAs from Nairobi in his consultations as he is best suited for the city job.

Mr Chege said that the party is looking for the best person to remove Governor Evans Kidero.

He said that they will welcome any other aspirants who decide to run on the Jubilee Party as the party is democratic.

NOT ENDORSE

“We will, however, not endorse anyone. The people will decide during nomination,” said Mr Chege.

Kahawa West MCA Ngaruiya Chege praised Mr Peter Kenneth, saying his track record on development would give him a major boost when it comes to removing Dr Kidero.

He said that Nairobi had tested the leadership of the opposition and had found it wanting, hence Jubilee is poised to take over the next government.

He said they will ensure that there is fair nomination and will support whoever gets the ticket.
