Kenyan thriller ‘Thief’, a gripping tale of redemption


“Thief, the electrifying thriller directed by Andrew Odera and Kiwo Maole, had its much anticipated premiere at Century Cinemax at Two Rivers Mall on Saturday April 13.

The premiere was met with critical acclaim and captivated audiences with its gripping storyline and stellar performances.

The premiere event included an engaging conversation with the star-studded cast and crew, giving attendees an inside look at the making of the film and the creative process behind it.

For those who missed the premiere, there’s another chance to experience the magic of Thief and meet the cast and crew.

The April 2024 edition of #WeWatchKenyan, presented by MyMovies.Africa, will host a screening of Thief at OUT Reality, The Mall in Westlands, Nairobi on Saturday, April 27.

The screening will begin at 7pm, preceded by a meet and greet with the cast and crew at 6pm, followed by a dynamic Q&A session from 7:30pm to 9pm.

Set in Nairobi, Thief follows the compelling journey of Oliver (Lucarelli Onyango), a reformed ex-thief faced with the daunting task of saving his critically ill son.

Presented with an unexpected opportunity to secure his son’s future through a daring heist of Donna’s (Helen Keli) fortune, Oliver finds himself torn between desperation and morality.

Following the screening, a panel discussion moderated by film critic and host of the Talk Film To Me podcast, Nkatha, will explore the themes and characters of Thief.

The panel will include Andrew Odera (writer, director & editor), Kiwo Maole (lighting & director), Lucarelli Onyango (lead actor), Neville Misati (supporting actor), Helen Keli (lead actress) and Julie Brenda (supporting actress).
