Khalwale threatens to ‘expose’ Waiguru

Kakamega Senator Bonny Khalwale has threatened to spill more beans on the alleged corruption at the rebranded National Youth Service.

In a series of tweets, the self-proclaimed bullfighter alleges that hundreds of millions of shillings have been swindled from NYS, which has been undergoing transformation under the watch of President Uhuru Kenyatta’s trusted ally, Devolution Secretary Anne Waiguru.

“This weekend am exposing more on Waiguru activities at NYS #NYSGrandCorruption Public money is being siphoned massively (sic),” tweeted Dr Khalwale.

The hashtag was at some point the top trending topic on Twitter Friday afternoon. Ms Waiguru has denied any wrongdoing saying she had in fact acted and thwarted an attempt to steal Sh826 million from the service.

NYS has been rocked by a scandal of bloated fees allegedly paid out to consultancy firms, one which is owned by political scientist Mutahi Ngunyi.

WAR AGAINST CORRUPTION

Mr Ngunyi has, however, remained defiant in face of the scandal.

“Was NYS Restructured? YES. Was it rebranded? YES. Did it Change KIBERA? YES. Does everyone want it? YES. Were we legally PAID? YES. And SO? What makes 38M a SCANDAL? Our security think-tank and its 15 NYS consultants from Kenya and abroad were contracted above board,” he said.

“No army can stop an IDEA whose time HAS COME (Hugo). NYS 5-Point Vision is unstoppable. We will transform ONE YOUTH AT A TIME. Like it or NOT.” On Thursday, he vowed to sue the Star newspaper for undervaluing his company.

Khalwale now claims that one Public Relations company was paid Sh161 million and another earned Sh113 million for consultant services in NYS rebranding “for media buying”.

“As a servant it is my duty to inform Kenyans what is going on with their taxes. To win the war against corruption. President Uhuru must come clean on Waiguru and explain to us in diagrams,” he tweeted.
