Manhunt launched for Kilimani house helps involved in robbery of goods worth Sh2.8m

Police are looking for two house helps who they believe were in cahoots with a gang that broke into a house in Kilimani, Nairobi and stole goods worth more than Sh 2.8 million.

The gang broke into the house on Tuesday at midday armed with pistols and metal rods and grabbed the cash and valuables after tying the occupants of the house.

The house, identified as Margaret Aluet, 36, who is a Sudanese national, told police that she received a call from her brother who informed her that a gang of three men armed with a pistol and metal rods stormed into their residence and tied them up in the living before proceeding with the robbery.

According to police report, the gang stole Sh95,000, US$28,000, seven golden necklaces, three sets of golden bungles, 12 golden rings, three bracelets, four gold watches and ten mobile phones all valued at Sh2.8 million.


Police have launched investigation and are looking for the two house helps who escaped with the attackers.

In a separate incident, two suspects, who had broken into a house in Umoja 3 and stole electronics were lynched by members of the public.

The owner of the house, who reported the matter to police, said that on Tuesday afternoon, as she had left her house for lunch, she saw three men carrying away her TV set, a decoder and two remote controls.

She raised alarm and residents cornered the three. Two of them were beaten to death but police said one of the suspects managed to escape.

The bodies of the victims were taken to the City Mortuary for identification and postmortem.
