Mother from Hell: Huruma Deputy OCS rescues baby in viral torture clip
Police in Johnsaga, within Huruma Estate, Nairobi County, have arrested a woman who recorded a video of herself assaulting her biological son.
The woman shared the video, showing her physically abusing the child while ordering him to be quiet and stop crying in the house. The video was later shared on TikTok and sparked outrage.
A police report seen by Nairobi News reveals that the mother will be charged with torturing the baby.
“She will be arraigned at the Makadara Law Courts on Monday, July 17, currently she does not have the custody of the minor,” said an officer privy to the matter.
When police officers first went to the woman’s home where she resides with her mother, she had been hidden by a neighbour.

Efforts to locate her proved futile, and the police returned to the station. However, a Samaritan eventually alerted them to her whereabouts. This was part of the local residents resolve to save the abused child.
Ms Juliana Olayo, an activist based in Huruma, joined forces with other women from the Shine a Light CBO in Mathare slums to rescue the baby despite difficulties.
“When our team arrived at the location where the woman and the mother were staying, a commotion erupted, and a neighbor attempted to hide the baby. However, we managed to thwart their plans and quickly spotted the child,” Ms. Olayo explained.
Shortly afterward, plainclothes police officers, led by Huruma Police Station Deputy OCS Abubakar Mbarak, entered the apartment and arrested the suspect.
Ms. Olayo further revealed, “Surprisingly, we also discovered that the baby’s father had been providing support for the child, but he was never given the chance to see him.”
