Mwingi man hacks brother to death then kills himself


Police in Mwingi have launched investigations into an incident that happened Saturday in which a man allegedly killed his brother before taking his own life.

Area residents said the two siblings started fighting while they were in the farm. One of them took a machete and attacked his brother with it.

A neighbour said they heard the man who had been slashed with the machete crying for help and when they arrived at the scene they found him writhing in pain.

“When we heard him wailing we rushed to the scene where we found him bleeding profusely,” the neighbour said.

The injured man was rushed to hospital but succumbed to his injuries along the way.

According to neighbours, after the attack, the assailant locked himself inside his house where his body was later discovered after he hanged himself.

Area residents said the cause of the conflict remains a mystery since the two have been living together in harmony.

Mwingi Sub-County police boss Mr Kyalo Kazungu has confirmed the incident saying that it all kicked off from the farm.

A disagreement broke out while the two brothers were working in the farm. One of them hacked the other with a machete leading to the latter’s death,” he said.
