Who ‘broke’? Not Dennis Oliech
By NAIROBI NEWS TEAM
Dennis Oliech’s brother has denied claims circulating in sections of the media suggesting the Kenyan international is broke.
Ken Oliech also confirmed in an interview with Nairobi News that his brother is still an “active” footballer, and is set to sign for a professional club in Europe or Asia come January.
The elder Oliech also hinted that the family is considering legal action against those portraying the former French based striker in bad light.
Ken, who is contesting for a top seat in the football elections said: “All those are rumours peddled by his (Dennis) enemies, including the people he used to frequently buy alcohol but has since stopped because he has matured.”
ACTIVE PLAYER
“The media in Kenya has always portrayed Dennis negatively but we are used to that. As for now, I wish to confirm that Dennis is an active player with several offers on the table. Some of the offers were not appealing but we all expect him to resume playing football competitively in January.”
Oliech, a one-time Kenyan football poster boy, has seen his stock fall steadily in the past year, ever since he had his contract terminated by French club Ajaccio in January.
He has been without a club ever since and has also lost his place in the national team.
Media reports have in the recent past claimed the former Nantes and Auxerre player is involved in “excessive” drinking and chewing of miraa in his Dagoretti backyard.
It has also been reported that Oliech has sold off or leased some of his properties including a boutique around Nairobi West, and expansive house in Lavington.
