Police probe death of disabled man in Kiambu


Police in Kikuyu, Kiambu county are investigating an incident where a disabled man was killed in a fire incident.

Mr Joseph Karuku said that the incident took place in Nguriundutu village.

The body of Mr Karuku was found in the house after a fire incident had been contained.

He was living with a disability.

Meanwhile, in Mathare Shopping Center, Imenti North in Meru County, a 23-year-old university student who had been reported missing has been found in his house.

The student is known as Samuel Gathongo who is a student at the Kenya Methodist University (KEMU).

Mr Gathongo has been missing since February 29, 2024.

According to police, the deceased was found by the landlady of the house in which he was living.

To her surprise the house has been locked from the outside for some time raising the question what might have transpired.

She found the body when she had gone to remove clothes from the cloth line when she noticed flies coming from the same house.

The student’s body was hanging from one of the rafters of the rented house.

Neighbors told the police that the student had not shown any signs of distress and was doing well.

When police officers were called to check what had transpired they also realised that the body had no physical injuries.

The body was moved to the Meru General Hospital Mortuary awaiting post-mortem.

Police also notified the school management in return informed his parents.

Police said no suicide note was found and they are investigating the cause of the death.

Meanwhile, in Ndiguini village, police said that they are investigating the murder of a 38-year-old.

The body of Evans Macharia was found lying on the road near his home.

It remains unclear what might have happened leading to the death of Mr Macharia.
