Prisk: Why we can’t reveal artiste’s earnings
The Performers Rights Society of Kenya (Prisk) says the 2014 royalties paid to its members increased by 303 per cent compared to the previous year but refused to divulge the figures.
Asked for the figures, Prisk’s communications officer DNG said: “Not possible: It is confidential information. If released, it would be invasion of our members’ privacy.”
Pressed further, he maintained: “Not possible to disclose. ‘By order of the Board’. I have really pushed as I know it would get major traction. I have been denied permission to divulge any figures.”
Prisk is mandated to clear rights on behalf of performers who include actors, musicians and studio producers.
