Jay had been hospitalised for months, including in intensive care.

He was said to be suffering from high blood pressure and is also said to be suffering from Covid -19.

The former MP also underwent dialysis as his kidneys were also affected.

One year on, Prof Jay is back looking stronger and sharing his recovery journey with his social media followers.

“First of all, I want to thank God for healing me and giving me a second chance at life.

I was very sick. Thank you God. I will praise you forever.

He also thanked the President of Tanzania, Her Excellency Dr Samia Hassan Suluhu and her government for paying his hospital bill and all the government officials who visited him in and out of hospital.

Jay also thanked his fellow countrymen and his family for supporting him with prayers and financial support before the government took over everything related to his treatment.

During his hospitalisation, many Tanzanian artists offered their help and support to the man who shaped the Tanzanian hip-hop scene.

While AY called on Tanzanians to rally behind the rapper and his family, Zuchu visited Jay’s mother to offer her love and support.

His family had to come out and refute claims of his death after a section of people claimed that Professor Jay had died.

The rapper’s younger brother Black Rhyno told Global Publishers;

“It’s a lie. He is not dead. Let us stop saying things that are not true”.

A Tanzanian politician named John Heche also put the rumours to bed in a tweet that read;

“Habari kuhusu prof Jay ni za uwongo zipuuzeni.” (The news about Prof Jay is not true, ignore them).
