Reasons why KFC Kimathi street is bound to lose customers
The Kimathi street branch of Kentucky Fried Chicken – or KFC, as the American fastfood franchise is commonly known – seems to be losing out on customer service if this writer’s recent experience is anything to go by.
It’s a Friday night and after a long day in the office you walk into the food joint eager to satiate your hunger. For starters what strikes you is the aloofness of the staff who all appear unenthusiastic about their job.
You beckon one of them and she nonchalantly struts over to take your order. She gives you that cursory look then turns around to inquire from a colleague of hers how long it will take. 15 minutes, the gentleman replies.
Then your long wait begins. In between, the two ladies at the counter keep hissing out order numbers to customers and telling them to come and pick their orders.
At some point one of them goes upstairs to tell a customer to come down and pick the food. Mercifully, 25 minutes later you are informed that your order is finally ready.
If you think your troubles are over, think again. At this late hour, the staff here have little regard for hygiene.
DREARY SERVICES
As you settle down to eat, you notice that one employee is busy sweeping the floor, in the process blowing dust all over your food. You protest. But she shrugs and says its closing time. She has to do her job.
What to do now? Because you’ve already paid, you choose to gobble up the food and get the heck out of the place!
Interestingly, the outlet’s management insists that patrons are not supposed to be subjected to such dreary services.
“Any simple order (like the one this writer placed) is not supposed to take more than 5 minutes before it’s served,” a certain Ms Winnie, who is the Manager of the Kimathi Street branch later told Nairobi News.
What’s more, if your food takes any longer, the waiters are meant to bring it to your table, according to Ms Winnie.
While the manager promises to follow up on the matter and see what they can do to improve their services, KFC Kimathi branch has certainly lost one disgruntled customer.
