Shebesh ally sued over county nomination

A court battle over nomination of a County Rep to Nairobi Assembly by The National Alliance looms after a disabled party activist sued an ally of Women Rep Rachel Shebesh.

Mr Peter Muchiri, who served as chairman of TNA’s disabled Campaign Group in the last elections, has sued Mr Mark Ndung’u arguing the nominated County Rep took his position at the assembly.

Mr Muchiri, from Dandora, argues in the court papers that his name was the only one submitted by his party to the IEBC to represent disabled people from Nairobi County.

Mr Muchiri had earlier successfully petitioned the nomination of Susan Akoth Bolo at the IEBC tribunal last year because she was found not to be a youth nor representing marginalised group.

The petition papers state that after Ms Bolo’s nomination was revoked, TNA nominated Mr Ndung’u, who is not a disabled person, instead of him. Mr Muchiri argues in his affidavit that the nomination goes against the Constitution.
