Shimanyula reacts to Khalwale’s 200 million legal demand over caretaker’s death
Last week, Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale was on the spot following the sudden death of his caretaker, Mr Kizito Moi Amukune, who handled his famous bulls.
Senator Khalwale is an avid fan of bullfighter and owns several bulls that take part in this sport.
Kakamega tycoon Mr Cleophas Shimanyula suggested, hours after the sudden death, that Mr Amukune did not die due to injuries caused by the late bull, Inasio. Shimanyula, known for his controversial statements called on authorities to come and conclusively investigate the death.
This happened, leading to Police and pathologists dispelling Shimanyula’s claims.
Following the caretaker’s burial, Khalwale came out guns blazing, denying all accusations he had a hand in Mr Amukune’s death and defending the honour of his wives and the entire family.

In doing so, he rattled off a list of his four wives and 17 children as he also threatened to sue Mr Shimanyula for Sh 200 million over his utterances.
“The wives I have are specific and are as follows: Wife number one is Adelaide Khalwale who died 5 years ago. She is the mother of my first three children- all copyrights of mine, no doubt about their paternity. Josephine Khalwale, my second wife, she is the mother of three of my children- one who has completed university, and two still at the university. In all copyrights, there have been no complaints about their paternity.
Three, Gloria Khalwale, who is the mother of eight of my children. Of these 8, some are at the university and others at the lower levels of education. They are all my copyrights. They have never had their paternity challenged. And finally, Diana Khalwale, mother of three, all of them in lower levels of education. The three children are my copyright,” explained Senator Khalwale during a press conference.
In response, Mr Shimanyula has appeared to maintain his stance over Amukune’s death and the circumstances surrounding it.
“…Your (Khalwale) education has not helped anyone. Maybe it has helped you marry your wives the 20 wives you claimed to have. I saw you parading your wives at the funeral (of Mr Amukune) and said that all their children are carbon copies of you…” said Mr Shimanyula.
“I watched Amukune’s burial. He died a pauper and has supposedly served you for two decades. I will not apologise. Nobody sent me to say this because nobody can afford to send me.”
Shimanyula also said he was not afraid of Khalwale’s threats to take him to court over these matters; and invited him to take him as far as the Supreme Court and the International Court at the Hague if he wanted.
Shimanyula and Khalwale are sworn political rivals in Kakamega County politics. They are both gunning for the gubernatorial seat, and Mr Shimanyula vowed Khalwale will not be the next governor of Kakamega come the 2027 election.
