Award-winning actress Lupita Nyong’o has once again captivated the world’s attention, this time for sharing a video of herself eating a viper snake stew during her stay in Benin.
The actress, known for her adventurous palate, expressed her enjoyment of the unique dish, comparing the taste to that of chicken.
In an Instagram video, Lupita Nyong’o prepared her followers for a daring culinary adventure by expressing her desire to try Viper’s meat.
Lifting the lid, she revealed a well-cooked, appetising dish featuring mouthwatering meat, wet-fried with tomatoes and other ingredients, and a thick soup dripping from it.
Contrary to her initial expectations, Lupita shared, “It doesn’t look as scary as I thought it would look; it does feel like a snake,” she said in hesitation to take a bite.
However, after the first taste, she reassured her audience, “It tastes just like chicken. I am not into the skin though,” continuing to eat more pieces.
Lupita added in the caption that she liked it.
“You are about to witness me eat a viper (snake), and here in Benin. I have never eaten a snake. It doesn’t look as scary as I thought it would. Looks like chicken. It tastes like chicken, the texture is like chicken, and the flesh is like that of chicken. I am into the skin though. I like this.”
She went on to reveal that in Benin, there is a snake market known as Badagry, specifically designated for the buying and selling snakes.
This isn’t the first time Lupita Nyong’o has made headlines for her unconventional food choices.
In July 2021, a viral video showcased her enjoying a mango fruit with a side of dead ants while attending an event with friends.
In the video, Lupita playfully shared: “These are ants and they taste good,” as her friends contemplated trying out other exotic delicacies like crickets.
Lupita took to social media to embrace her unique culinary experiences, humorously captioning the video, “You can call me Ant-Woman!! #Marvel #Ants #Foodie.”
