Sports CS Achesa and Senator Malala bury the hatchet after ‘illiterate’ jibe
Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala says he has buried his differences with Sports Cabinet Secretary Rashid Echesa ‘for the sake of the Mulembe nation’.
The youthful Senator made this announcement on his official social media pages. It was accompanied by the photo of the two embracing while wearing smiles.
The two politicians from Kakamega County have been at loggerheads recently leading to an exchange of not too pleasant words.
“Today, I hosted my elder brother, the CS for Sports, Hon Rashid Echesa in Kakamega for lunch and man to man talk in a bid to bury the hatchet that has long set us on different paths. We agreed to let bygones be bygones for the unity of the mulembe nation,” said Senator Malala.
The announcement comes six weeks after he suggested his Echesa was “illiterate”.
The remark led to a violent confrontation between supporters of the two politicians in Mayoni in which several people were injured and vehicles damaged.
In the run up to this confrontation, Malala had challenged Echesa to write a proposal to President Uhuru Kenyatta, asking him to intervene and ensure the ailing Mumias Sugar Company receives additional bailout to restart operations.
