Steve Harvey’s upcoming visit to Kenya: Key details after meeting Ruto – Watch

Renowned American TV host Steve Harvey has been rooting for Kenya, this time promising to visit the country in September 2024.

During a meeting with President William Ruto at the Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta on May 21, Harvey announced his plans to visit Kenya in September to coincide with his holiday.

Harvey will also return to Kenya in December for an official celebration. He mentioned that this visit will precede the filming of his game show ‘Family Feud’ in Johannesburg, South Africa.

“When I met my brother (President Ruto), he invited me to Kenya. It just so happens that September is when I go on holiday. I will be shooting Family Feud again in Johannesburg but this time for Botswana. So I’ll be on that side of the world before I go to see my brother (Ruto) and we’ll hang out in Kenya. It is a dream come true,” said Harvey.

During a four-day visit to the United States, Kenyan President William Ruto has been meeting with various film industry stakeholders to explore potential partnerships aimed at strengthening Kenya’s local film sector.

Mr Harvey hosted him on behalf of Tyler Perry, who was away.

In a statement, Perry explained why he could not make it to welcome President Ruto.

“Unfortunately my schedule was booked and I’m heartbroken that I couldn’t move things around in time to be there to greet President Ruto of Kenya as he and his family and delegation toured Tyler Perry studios. The good news is that means I will have to make my way to Kenya very soon! I am honoured, humbled, and thankful that you stopped by President Ruto.”

President Ruto expressed optimism that such collaborations would have a significant impact on the future of Kenya’s creative industry, potentially boosting its growth and development.

“I now understand why about eight years ago my daughter, and she’s around, asked me ‘You know I want to film’. I looked at her and what did you say? I have to apologise to her today. She was right and I was wrong.

Because today, while we were walking around, she said to me, “Do you see what I told you? And it’s totally different,” Ruto said.

The visit is part of a wider effort to forge international partnerships that can bring new opportunities and resources to Kenya’s burgeoning film industry.
