Kenya’s President William Samoei Ruto, has, in a striking display of luxury fashion, made a statement on the nation’s 60th Independence Day, Jamhuri Day, by adorning a pair of Christian Louboutin red bottom shoes worth a staggering $1045, equivalent to approximately Sh160,303.

As the country commemorates the historic occasion at Uhuru Gardens, all eyes were on Dr Ruto as a photo emerged of him in the stylish shoes as he walked toward his car, showcasing the renowned red-soled Louboutins.

On Tuesday morning, thousands of Kenyans thronged Uhuru Gardens in Nairobi to celebrate Kenya’s 60th Jamhuri Day. 60 years ago, on December 12, 1963, Kenya became a Republic.

A number of dignitaries are expected to grace the national celebrations led by President William Ruto. Among the dignitaries is Ethiopia President Sahle-Work Zewde, who jetted into the country on Monday.

According to Interior PS Raymond Omollo, 30,000 people are expected to attend the fete at Uhuru Gardens, and parallel celebrations will take place in other counties.
