The boring night life in Equatorial Guinea
However, the scenario always changes when the country’s national football team is playing at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations.
The last time out when the home team trounced neighbours Gabon 2-0 to book a place in the quarter finals, jubilant fans poured out in the street and made merry while dancing and consuming alcohol until well into the wee hours of the morning.
But on any normal night, only a few people be found in the pubs drinking away their time while engaged in low tone discussions.
By 10pm most streets are often deserted save for a few taxis doing the rounds for the occasional late client.
Besides, most businesses such as shops and hardwares remain unattended by night guards which turns the place to a ghost town by night till around 8am in the morning when everything comes back to life.
