Three charged with Sh91m theft


Three senior employees of a tour company were on Tuesday charged with stealing Sh90.8 million.

Geoffrey Macharia, John Chege and Julius Mutinda were chief accountant, head of finance and senior accountant respectively at Private Safaris (EA) limited.

They denied the charge.

The accused, who appeared before Nairobi acting chief magistrate Daniel Ochenja, were each released on a Sh10 million bond with a surety of similar amount or an alternative of Sh5 million cash bail.

They allegedly stole the money from the company which came into their possession by virtue of their employment.

The offence is alleged to have been committed on diverse dates between January 18 last year and February 21 this year at the company offices, Oil Libya plaza, Muthaiga Nairobi.

The case will be heard on May 13.
