Five suspected thugs killed in night of gun drama


Police on Wednesday shot and killed five suspected thugs in separate incidents across the city.

In Mountain View Estate, six suspects armed with guns and crude weapons broke into a house and took a family hostage before robbing them.

The suspects stole Sh15,000, $100, three laptops, an iPad, wrist watches, and jewelry.

Police responded after receiving reports of a robbery in progress. Three of the suspects managed to escape in getaway cars, but left their colleagues behind who jumped over the fence and hid in an adjacent building.

Police officer’s managed to corner them and killed the three on the spot.

Police recovered an iPad, two wrist watches, mobile phones, three laptops, a homemade gun with one round of ammunition and a pair of shoes.

The bodies were taken to city morgue awaiting identification and autopsy.

And in Dandora estate, a suspected thug was shot dead on Wednesday afternoon after he shot at the police.

The suspect, who was in a group of four, had shot a police officer who was part of a squad that raided a house in Mowlem on Wednesday afternoon.

A Taurus pistol loaded with four bullets was found on the dead suspect.

City police boss Japheth Koome said the officers were responding to information from residents about a gang that was holed in a house.

MAN HUNT

A massive man hunt involving other teams of police officers was launched to pursue the other men who escaped.

Mr Koome said the injured officer was in stable condition.

“He has already been admitted to hospital and the doctors has told us that the officer is out of danger,” he added.

In Gatoto Kijiji, within Reuben Slums, Makadara, police on patrol received information from members of the public that there were three men robbing members of the public.

Officers went to the scene and challenged the three men to surrender but they defied the orders and instead started firing at the officers.

A shootout ensued and the officers managed to kill one suspect as the other two escaped.

The killed suspect, identified as a 24 year old Marcos Musau Muina, was found with a homemade gun capable of firing with one round of ammunition.

His body was taken to city mortuary awaiting autopsy.
